Itinerary
Day 1: Mumbai - Colombo – Pinnawala – Dambulla
Assemble at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (Mumbai) to board Sri Lankan Airlines. Arrival at Bandarnayake International Airport. After completion of immigration formalities, proceed to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage - At this orphanage you will find elephants of all ages which are abandoned or otherwise unable to fend for themselves due to being injured. They are looked after with loving care until such time they are ready to work or be freed back to the jungles. The unique feature is that one could feed the baby elephants with bottles of milk during the feeding times. The elephants are also bathed daily in a river located across the orphanage.
Proceed to Dambulla Rock Cave temple :-Dambulla is sited on a gigantic rock which towers more than 160m above the surrounding land. The Rock is more the 1.5km around its base and summit is at 550km. The caves were the refuge of King Walagamba (Vattagamini Abhaya).When he was exile for 14 years. When he return to the throne at Anuradhapura in the 1st century BC, he had magnificent rock temple built at Dambulla. The site has being repaired and repainted several times in the 11th, 12th and 18th centuries. Overnight stay at Hotel in Dambulla. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 02: Sigiriya - Kandy
After Breakfast Leave for Kandy En route Visit UN World Heritage Site of Sigiriya and Spice Garden. Sigiriya. An ancient rock fortress from the 5th Century, amazing views of the cultural triangle! Also you can visit the Sigiriya Museum.
Arrive Kandy - This lovely city was the last Capital of the Kingdom of Sri Lanka before it became a colony of the British Empire. During the last two centuries of the Kingdom, Nanayakhar princes of India exerted substantial influence among the rulers of this country. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its centre, it is the site of the renowned "Temple of the Tooth". Places of interest are the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and the Mahaweli Diversion Project in their impressive settings. Spice Gardens dot the outskirts of Kandy. Overnight stay at Hotel in Kandy. Day 03- Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
After Breakfast Commence Kandy city tour including Gem Museum in Kandy Kandyan art and craft center, silk show room, upper lake view of Kandy temple. The Temple of the Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha.
Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic - Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha's Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka's most prized possession. Proceed to Nuwara Elliya. Visit to Hagkala Gardens (Ashok Vatika where Seeta was kept by Ravana). We will see the footprints of Hanuman and Sanjeevanee Mountain.
Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coldest places on the island, where the air is pure, cool and distilled up through 1,884 meters; windswept peaks lie shrouded in mist, while gaily clad tea pluckers wind their way among tea bushes listening to the wild music of the water falls. The is city complete with a Lake, Golf course and Race course ideal for hikes, golf, horse riding and boating. Overnight stay at the hotel at Nuwara Elliya. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 04- Nuwara Eliya – Yala National Park
Morning Visiting Shiva Temple. Proceed to Yala National Park. Day for leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel at Yala National Park. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 5: Yala National Park
Morning and afternoon Jungle Safari. Overnight stay at the hotel at Yala National Park. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 6: Yala - Bentota
Proceed to Bentota. Evening free at Bentota Beach. Overnight stay at the hotel at Bentota.
Bentota- Facing the Indian Ocean, a tropical lagoon and a major river Bentota offers water sports possibilities nowhere else to be found. The name comes from a mythical story which dates back to kings time saying a demon called Bem ruled this river (tota = river bank). Bentota also delivers an ancient art of healing called Ayurveda. The city is famous for its toddy production, an alcoholic beverage made out of coconut nectar. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 7: Bentota
Today we will visit Galle Fort, Turtle Hatchery and enjoy Boat Safari in Bentota River. Overnight stay at the hotel at Bentota. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 8: Bentota - Colombo
Departure to Colombo for City Tour and shopping. Proceed to Bandarnayake International Airport to board Sri Lankan Airlines back to Mumbai. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
